Saturday July 10th is Bug Day 10am to 11am. Bring in a bug for show and tell. Learn to identify the difference between good and bad bugs. Jennifer will also have some bugs that we have living around the nusery.

Bear's Breech
Acanthus mollis

Grows best in light shade, can burn if planted against the house with direct sun. Blooms all summer, flower stocks are 2-3' tall and purplish with white under tones. Leaves can be up to 1-1/2' wide, lush dark green with deeply cut lobes. May divide after a couple of years, best to seperate in late fall to early spring. Fertilize in spring & fall.

SHRUB of the MONTH
Corokia...cotoneaster

Small leaf evergreen, growns best in a container, but also is a great Bonsai specimen. Very slow growing to 10 ft - most of the time they stay around 3-4 ft. The branches and leaves are very unique to this shrub. Contorted structure with very small and sparse leaves that are a gray/ green color. Add night lighting to illuminate the interesting form.
